Something is multiplying at a rate of knots and it’s not the number of hours that marketers are being freed up each work day. Not only are marketers feeling the pressure to perform across multiple platforms, now they’re managing their creative projects with more than one marketing tool.
According to Winterberry Group’s research report , 55.1% of marketers are using five to ten different marketing tools to manage data and advertising campaigns, with 27.3% juggling up to 20 tools. Aside from marketing automation tools, these figures include marketing project management tools such as time tracking, collaboration, file management, resource management, online proofing tools and asset storage.
There’s something exciting about forecasting future trends in the marketing and advertising space because the industry has changed significantly over the past 7 years. Who would have predicted back in 2011 that digital marketing tools would explode from 150 products to 5,000 today? While there are some themes that roll over, there’s always new trends that we can’t foresee – a dark horse that steers behaviour in an unexpected direction.

What is a ‘traditional’ DAM system?
The Digital Asset Management (DAM) marketplace currently consists of many vendors, all of which have generally followed a similar business model. Most DAM systems exist as a clearly defined standalone product that have their own user interface and unique look and feel. They often feature a proprietary database in which to store all the records and metadata for assets contained within the system.
